Blurb:
The 12-minute track is reminiscent of a telephone game where sounds are passed on from artist to artist and remixed over chunks of time. First, prOphecy started by creating vocal texture samples which were recorded on a smartphone with a binaural microphone. From a sample or two, Julien then created the first arrangement with a tempo and a melodic line directly stuck on prOphecy's vocals, mixed and completed with ambient synthetic sounds. prOphecy's voice samples appear in cycles, quite slowly, virtually singing along like she were there for real. Now LDX#40 added select bits and pieces - samples of his own creation as well as heavily processed versions of prOphecy’s vocals – to Julien’s arrangement. This was followed by his own Commodore C64 composition for the middle part, which was passed back to Julien. He
added analog synths to the middle part, respecting LDX#40's particular sound and smoothing the transition between the two parts. The third and final part was arranged by prOphecy meshing harmonic and dissonant vocal melodies alongside breath and ambient texture samples from Julien and LDX#40. prOphecy then folded vocal drones back into LDX#40’s middle section to bring the piece a vocal wash. The resulting composition is a vast and spacious multi-dimensional work that weaves many layers of time and space together – a soundtrack for
a movie yet to be made.
